St. Petersburg Mother Mugged at Dell Holmes Park on Way to Playdate

Michelle Smith, 32, was at Dell Holmes Park in St. Petersburg with her 1 year old daughter at about 10:30 am to meet friends for a playdate. She parked near the entrance and a man jumped out from behind bushes and pointed a gun at her daughter. He demanded her purse and valuables. She gave them to him then hit her car’s panic button. The man told her to shut the alarm off and pointed the gun at her. She grabbed her daughter and ran toward the entrance where she found a woman from her playdate group and called the police. Smith vows never to return to the park again.
