Posted on June 6, 2012

Sandra Schrotenboer was driving her car home from work on Monday evening when a van headed straight toward her on U.S. 19.  She reports, “I thought . . . ‘I’m going to die.’”  George Wesley Ivey, 37, of St. Petersburg was headed north on the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 and collided head on into a Suzuki Vitara driven by Jasmin V. Keyes, of Largo.  Keyes then hit Schrotenboer’s Dodge Caravan.  Ivey was not wearing a seatbelt and he was ejected from his van and pronounced dead at the scene.  Keyes was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.  Schrotenboer, 55, of St. Petersburg suffered only minor injuries.
