Murder Suspect Identified in University of Tampa Student Murder

Posted on May 31, 2012

Thirty-three months ago, University of Tampa student, Ryan McCall, was murdered when walking home from his friend’s 21st birthday celebration.  A stranger jumped out of bushes, demanded money, took the few dollars McCall had on him, then shot McCall.  Years passed but the case never went cold.  Law enforcement was collecting evidence and grew closer and closer to an arrest.  Yesterday, Tampa detective Sal Augeri filed a warrant to arrest David Williams Jr., who is serving 15 years in prison on other robbery and burglary charges.  Williams now faces first-degree murder charges for the murder of McCall.  State records indicate that Williams has been arrested 30 times, starting from when he allegedly beat and robbed a fellow student when he was only 11 years old.
