Q: What are the fines for speeding in a Pinellas County construction zone?

A: Get ready to open your wallet if you received a Pinellas County ticket for speeding in a construction zone.  The fines are doubled that of a regular speeding ticket.   A valid construction zone requires signs stating it is a consturction zone and notice that the fines are doubled.  The construction zone must also have construction personnel present or operating equipment on the road or immediately adjacent to road under construction.  The fees imposed in Pinellas County are as follows:

1-9 m.p.h.     156.00
10-14 m.p.h.  306.00
15-19 m.p.h.  406.00
20-29 m.p.h.  456.00
30 m.p.h. PLUS requires a mandatory court hearing with a maximum fine of $1000.00.
