A: Yes, reckless driving is a criminal traffic offense in the State of Florida. It is a first degree misdemeanor charge punishable by up to a year in county jail. When a DUI charge is reduced in criminal court it is often reduced to the charge of reckless driving. If the offense involves alcohol additional sanctions can be imposed by the court.
