Q: Can my probation officer change the terms of my probation?

A: No, in order to change any substantive terms of your probation, you must appear before the Court and request the change.  This can be as simple as asking the Court for permission to travel.  Because the probation officer must follow the Court Order, they have no choice but to deny your request and refer you back to the Court.  This is often intimidating for people. Call our office for assistance if you need to change a term of your probation.
