Attempted Sexual Battery Charges Dropped

Client was trying to help his adult drug addicted step-daughter and offered her a place to live. Client was unaware of the totality of her addiction until she began asking him for money. He initially tried to help her by giving her some money but later refused to provide any money and only wanted her to get sober. One evening the step-daughter alleged that our client attempted to rape her or sexual batter her by holding her down on a bed. Our client retained our services immediately. With advice from his counsel, our client was not arrested and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office submitted the case to the Office of the State Attorney for a direct file. The Office of the State Attorney declined to prosecute our client for any alleged offense.
