Push for Parasailing Laws in Florida

The untimely death of Alejandra White may be the instigator needed to push parasailing laws through the legislature.  White died on the Saturday after Labor Day weekend on Clearwater Beach due to a parasailing accident.  State Senator Dennis Jones is a proponent of the parasailing bill that has failed three times previously due to lack of support in the House.  Jones stated that the bill would require inspections, safety equipment and insurance requirement for parasailing.  In light of the White tragedy, the bill would be named in her honor.  The parasailing industry itself admits that self-regulation does not work in this business.  Without regulation, there will likely be continued accidents, opined Mark McCulloh of the national Parasail Safety Council.
